We enjoyed 3 days of South Summit full of experiences: meeting new startups, learning from different speakers, testing new tech products, taking to customers … We had a space in the Orange Stand because the company has an acceleration program we won last year. This year The Orange Fab Program has selected three new startups: Momit, Sensovida and Iomando. Momit has a Smart Home solution to reduce energy consumed at homes, Sensovida is an innovative telecare solution that detects the presence of a person in their houses and IOmando, a new system to control the access to our homes ( or companies) with a mobile phone and without keys. Our CEO Miguel Castillo participated in a round table about Empowering Disruptors moderated by Eric Tartanson VP Corporate Development at Orange .
At South Summit there were several acceleration programs and investors interested in new services or products related with new technologies. These type of gatherings show the endless opportunities to innovate in any sector. Attending round tables discussions and masterclasses from successful entrepreneurs is always inspiring.
Here is the list of ideas worth noting on our diary:
Focus on your project as your only job
Do not be afraid to fail
You will certainly need more resources than you planned
Time and money are scarce resources, so don’t waste them

Hot from our partner program! Nibodha Technologies has conducted an IoT meetup that we are proud to be part.
Here are their appreciations:
We at Nibodha Technologies, are extremely happy to let you know that we had conducted the first IoT Meetup in Kochi, India. The event was conducted at Startup Village on 22nd October 2014. The response we got from people here was extremely amazing. 50+ people turning up for the very first event of IoT was astonishing. The event comprised of an overview on technological landscape of IoT by Radhesh Radhakrishnan (V.P Engineering, Nibodha Technologies), technical discussions, Q&A sessions and demo of an IoT application using the Carriots platform.
At a high-level, the application sensed prevailing room temperature and sends it to user’s phone via internet. JSON data was send, stored and received using the Carriot platform. Thanks to the Carriots platform, integration part worked like butter!! We used Arduino Uno (Sparksfun Redboard) for I/O operations like fetching room temperature, light intensity and passed the value to Raspberry Pi using serial communication. Raspberry Pi was running on node.js server and was programmed to post the values on to Carriots rest API. On the end-user side, we created an Android application which communicates with Carriots rest API and displays the temperature & Intensity on the Android App.
The integration freedom which Carriots provides for developers is exceptional. We had happy times experimenting the Carriots. We are also looking forward on how to use this in real-life use cases such as poultry farms and hatcheries. The meetup dispersed on the note, to conduct frequent IoT meetups. Together, we aim to resolve complex problems of mankind using simple IOT applications. We believe Carriots will keep supporting us.
Carriots was created to sparkle open innovation around the world, from makers to big companies or IoT start-ups. Our software was designed to promote rapid proof of concept prototyping so that new products or services can be quickly tested in the market.
At Cisco IoE Innovation Centers they have the same vision. So it is great that we are part of their ecosystem. Carriots will be an active member of this open innovation community and will:
Integrate Cisco Hardware with Carriots to help developers plug and play.
Publish our tutorial examples combining Cisco routers and Carriots.
Provide sample units of the IoT projects we have done for some of our customers, to see how people can hack them.
Participate in a wide variety of hackhaton and innovation activities related to hot topics like security, protocols or simply exploring new business IoE solutions.
Great work Cisco for this initiative! Now lets all innovate together…
